+0.4 °C / hour
Rising by 0.4 °C per hour (total change +0.8 °C).
The rate of change shows how much a temperature reading moved per hour between two points in time. It is a simple arithmetic estimate for your own record keeping.
About the rate of change
When you record a temperature more than once, it can help to know not just the difference between two readings but how quickly it moved. The rate of change expresses that as degrees per hour, so two readings taken thirty minutes apart and two taken three hours apart can be compared on the same footing.
To find the total gap between two readings instead, use the temperature difference calculator. To review highest, lowest, average, and trend across several readings, try the temperature log summary, and see the guide on how often to log your temperature.
